Situation Description

The SmartPlayer platform includes functionality for editing existing or new video content. This page explains how to use the video editor and its capabilities.

Content Requirements

For proper video content operation, the following requirements must be met:

  • Resolution - up to UHD 3840X2160 (if platform supports this resolution);
  • Frame rate: 25-30;
  • Bitrate: 8000;
  • Codec: H 264;
  • Video format - mp 4.
For devices running Tizen OS, WebOS and BrightSign, it's recommended to remove audio from video content.

Action Algorithm

The first step for the user is to log in or register on the SmartPlayer platform. Next, the user should locate the "Content" section and click on the "Video Editor" category.

After clicking the category, the main page will open containing four core elements for working with video content:

  1. Content zone - allows adding video content from personal account or device;
  2. Settings panel - enables actions with processed content;
  3. Content toolbar - displays information about available or added content for editing;
  4. Video conversion settings - hidden by default. Appears when clicking on uploaded video content, allowing content manipulation.

Content Zone

The content zone initially appears as a window with instructions for adding video content.

Video content can be added to the zone in two ways:

  • Drag-and-drop from local storage
  • Add from content toolbar (Point 3) existing video content

Settings Panel

The settings panel contains four elements:

  • Animation - provides start/end animation settings for video content;
  • Settings - allows selecting name and storage location in personal account;
  • Save - enables saving processed content;
  • Exit - returns user to "Content" section.

Content Toolbar

The content toolbar is divided into two sections:

  1. Tasks - area containing video content added for editing;
  2. Content - area displaying available video content from personal account.

Video Conversion Settings

These settings are initially hidden. Click on video content in content zone to activate editor settings.

When conversion settings open, users can modify:

  • Duration (start/end time) - manually set values for video trimming;
  • "Round video duration to whole numbers" toggle - enables/disables rounding video length down to whole numbers;
  • Content dimensions (width/height) - manually specify video dimensions;
  • "Maintain proportions" checkbox - enables/disables aspect ratio preservation;
  • Bitrate - set bitrate value (measured in Kbps);
  • Available bitrate - select from predefined bitrates for resolutions: 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p;
  • FPS - set frames per second count;
  • Content rotation - rotate content clockwise in 90° increments;
  • "Remove audio from video" checkbox - deletes audio track;
  • "Use preset" checkbox - enables Android device presets selection;
  • Preset selection - available presets for: manual configuration, Android 4.0 optimization, Android 4.4 optimization.

Presets for Android Devices

To configure presets for Android devices, edit the following fields:

  • Video codec - select video encoding codec (available: libx264);
  • Audio codec - select audio encoding codec (available: aac);
  • Codec profile - choose one of three encoding profiles: baseline (basic, for weak devices), main (balanced quality/compatibility), high (maximum quality);
  • Codec level - optimally combines resolution, frame rate, bitrate and decoding complexity;
  • Preset - select available preset from list;
  • Video encoding quality - set quality value for ffmpeg encoding.

Video Processing

To start video editing, click "Process" at bottom of screen. To undo changes, click "Cancel".

This launches video processing and conversion.

Completion

After finishing video editing, users will be prompted to:

  1. Name the processed file
  2. Select storage location in personal account
