Description of the Situation

The SmartPlayer platform supports various types of content. Due to the growing number and diversity of user cases involving static images in broadcasts and animation handling, it was decided to define the requirements and limitations for this type of content.

Platform-Specific Requirements and Limitations

Below are the requirements for static images by platform.

Android

Format – JPG/PNG
Image resolution – Full HD 1920 x 1080
File size – up to 2 MB, with the following gradation:

  • low quality (40–50%): ~200–400 KB
  • medium quality (60–80%): ~400–800 KB
  • high quality (90–100%): ~1–2 MB
  • maximum quality with slight compression: 2–3 MB (rare, but possible)

Animation support limitations in SmartPlayer – none

Web OS

Format – JPG/JPEG
Image resolution – from 64x64 up to 2560x1440 (2K)
File size – up to 100 MB
Animation support limitations in SmartPlayer – none

Tizen

Format – JPG/JPEG
Image resolution – from 64x64 up to 2560x1440 (2K)
File size – up to 100 MB
Animation support limitations in SmartPlayer – none

BrightSign

Format – JPG/JPEG
Image resolution – from 64x64 up to 3840x2160 (4K) for XT, 4K, XTx 34, XDx 33 series; other devices: from 64x64 up to 2560x1440 (2K)
File size – LS series: up to 50 MB; other devices: up to 100 MB
Animation support limitations in SmartPlayer – animation support for BrightSign is under development.
