Description of the Situation

The updated SmartPlayer platform expands the capabilities for interacting with devices running WebOS. It is now possible to perform a soft reset to factory settings without losing data.

Related Information

The term "Soft Reset" refers to a restart of the system or application without deleting data or settings, as opposed to a full (hard) reset. It is similar to turning the device off and back on — in most cases, this resolves minor issues.

Action Algorithm

Soft Reset is available and functional only for devices with an online status.

To use the soft reset functionality, the user must first register or log in to the SmartPlayer platform.
The next step is to go to the "Devices" section.

Then, the user should locate the device running WebOS.

Clicking on the device will open the settings panel, where the user needs to click on the "Information" line.

In the "Information" section, the user should find the screen gear icon on the left panel, under the screen preview. This icon is the "Soft Reset" functionality for the device.

After clicking, a modal window will appear with a notification about resetting all settings without data loss. To start the reset process, click the "Clear" button.
