The SmartPlayer personal account has received a lot of additional functionality for device management. This functionality varies depending on the current device status (online/offline). This article describes which functionality is available to the user in different device statuses and how it works.

More details about device statuses can be found here.

Action Algorithm

The user must register or log in to the SmartPlayer personal account.
Next, go to the "Devices" section in the personal account and click to select the desired device.

Example of the "Devices" section and selected device

A device control panel will open on the right. It will display a preview window and control icons below it.

Depending on the device status (online/offline), the availability of control buttons will change.

Available Actions

Currently, the following set of device control functions is available:

  1. Power — allows you to turn off the device or activate sleep mode.
  2. Restart — allows you to reboot the device or restart applications.
  3. Volume — opens the volume adjustment module.
  4. Delete — removes the device from the personal account.

"Power" Button

The functionality described in this section works the same if the user turns off the device through the "Device Information" category control panel.

The "Power" button allows the user to send power on/off commands to the device, as well as work with sleep mode.

The "Restart" button allows the device to receive reboot or sleep mode commands.
Two reboot options are available under this button:

  • Device reboot — the device will automatically restart (1–5 minutes).
  • App restart — the device will restart the client app (10 seconds to 3 minutes).

Wake-on-LAN Technology

Wake-on-LAN is a technology that allows you to remotely power on a computer over a network. Even when the device is turned off, its network card remains active and "listens" to the network for a special signal — the so-called "magic packet." Upon receiving this packet, the computer starts up automatically as if the power button were pressed. For this function to work, support is required from the motherboard and network card, as well as enabling the corresponding option in BIOS and OS settings.

When launching a device using Wake-on-LAN, a modal window will pop up, describing the steps required for the technology to work correctly and outlining possible reasons why it might not work. Example of the window in the screenshot:

Wake-on-LAN Requirements

Below is a list of requirements for Wake-on-LAN to work:

  • Device BIOS must be configured with this function enabled;
  • Works only on Windows and Linux;
  • Motherboard must support Wake-on-LAN;
  • Technology is only available on local servers.
