Add Device

Description of the Situation

One of the categories in the “Devices” section is “Add Device”. In this section, the user can add a new physical device or create a virtual device, which can later be linked to the user’s physical device.

Algorithm of Actions

To add a device, the user must log in or register on the SmartPlayer platform.
The next step is to go to the “Devices” section and select the “Add Device” category.

After that, the user will see a page divided into two blocks:

1. Add device by code.
2. Create a virtual device.

Block “Add Device”

In the “Add Device” block, a page with two parameters is displayed:

• enter screen code — manually enter the activation code obtained after installing the SmartPlayer client application on the device;
• select license type — choose the required license type from the list to be applied to the device.

To complete the device addition process, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen.

Block “Create a virtual device”

When opening the “Create a virtual device” block, the user must first configure the “Select license” parameter. Without this setting, the user will not be able to interact with other parameters.

After selecting a license, the user can configure the following virtual device parameters:

• name — enter the name of the device being created;
• address — enter the name of the location where the device will be located;
• group — select one of the available device groups in the personal account;
• checkbox “Use group timezone” — allows using the timezone of the selected device group;
• timezone selection — allows manual selection of a timezone;
• device orientation — select one of four options: horizontal, vertical, inverted horizontal, inverted vertical;
• notification section — manually enter the section name (optional parameter used for specific functionality);
• floor — select a floor from the list (optional parameter used for specific functionality);
• additional description — manually add a description for the device;
• tag — allows manually adding a tag for the device.

After configuring all parameters, the user must click the “Save” button at the bottom center of the screen.

The created virtual device will be added to the general list in the “Devices” section.

Virtual Device Activation

When activating a virtual device, users no longer need to look for the “-” symbol. The activation page layout has been improved, and a new on-screen keyboard has been added. This solution works on devices running the following operating systems:

1. Windows.
2. Linux.
3. Android.
