Situation Description

A difficulty was discovered when using and displaying a text line in broadcasts on devices running WebOS. During playback, the size of the text line displayed on the device did not match the size specified in the broadcast editor.

Working Environment

This issue was identified in the following environment versions:

  1. Personal Account — 2.153.4.
  2. Server Application — 2.150.12.

Problem Resolution

Devices running WebOS (LG devices) have several font‑related limitations. For example:

  1. The syntactic extensions bold and italic. Applying them to certain fonts on the device platform is impossible without downloading specific font files. This is a limitation of LG devices (WebOS).

Official Response from LG

[The bold style already has been applied to default system font and it has been applied long time ago.
It is a known issue on webOS platform.
The recomendation is to use TTF (True Type Fonts) or OTF (Open Type Fonts) fonts, which will support the BOLD style. It also supports Google Web Font, general web fonts.
You can also reffer to W3Schools.com for the font formats.
The bold style for external font also is not available.
LG decided not to make any changes in the FW because too many partners have already work arrounds in place, and any changes of FW would affect all of them, possibly breaking their app.
So, we recommend you use the separate font file for bold style.
I attach the sample application that I added the Comic Sans Bold Font to their app for an example of workarounds.scap_app_byDW.zip ]
