Situation Description
The SmartPlayer platform supports interaction with various devices running diverse operating systems. Some devices do not require additional steps to install SmartPlayer, but there are specific devices where the standard installation process does not work. One such device is the Novastar TB 1-4G.

Required Software for Configuration
To install the SmartPlayer software on the Novastar TB 1-4G player, you will need the Viplex Express application.
Installing the Special SmartPlayer Firmware

If the firmware is not updated on the device, proper content playback will not be possible!
Installing SmartPlayer Firmware on the NovoStar Device
In the Viplex application, the user needs to access the "Control" section.
Within the "Control" section, the user needs to find the "Player upgrade" category.
In the "Player upgrade" category, the user must select "Local Upgrade" in the "Upgrade Method" field by clicking the dot next to the value.
Next, the user should click the three dots next to "Local Upgrade" and select the path to the location where the required downloaded firmware in "nuzip" format is stored. Once the firmware is detected, the storage path will be displayed.
Then, the user should select the desired device from the list on the bottom left of the application using a checkbox and click the "Upgrade" button to begin the firmware update on the selected device.
Before starting the firmware update, a notification window with the message "Close the window after installation" will appear. The user must click "OK".
Once the update is complete, the firmware will be installed and used by the device.

- Install the Viplex Express application and start configuring the device.
- Activate SmartPlayer on the Novastar TB 1-4G device using Viplex Express.
- Configure network parameters and time using Viplex Express.
- Start and connect via ADB.

Step 1: Installing the Viplex Express Application and Configuring the Device
To begin, the user must install the Viplex Express application.
Next, the user should launch the Viplex Express application on the device using its desktop shortcut.
After opening the application, a menu for working with the application will appear.
To start working in the application, set the "Async mode" option.
Next, connect the device (Novostar TB 1-4G) to the local network. This device should appear in the list of detected equipment.
After clicking the "Refresh" button, the user must select the player to be configured.
To connect the device, use the details provided on the device. Upon successful connection, the device (Novostar TB 1-4G) will appear in the list of available devices.
To connect to the device, the user must click the "Connect" button. The application may request a password, which by default is "123456".
After a successful connection, a green indicator will light up next to the device's name in the application. This indicator signifies that the connection was successful.
To install the application on the device, the user must access an additional menu item. To do this, type "NovaSoft" using the keyboard on the device. After entering this phrase, a new menu item will appear.
The user must navigate to the new menu section, which will open a new menu page.
The next step is selecting the desired player and clicking the "Connect" button. If necessary, enter the password "123456".
Then the user must click on the player. After clicking, a new page with the player's menu will appear.
In this menu, the user must:
- Disable "PlayService" to turn off the internal player.
- Select and specify the path to the SmartPlayer installation file.
- Check the box for «Auto launch on startup».
- Check the box for «Automatically run after installation».
- Start the application installation.
Upon successful installation, the user may see two types of notifications:
- Set successfully
- OnInstallSucess
Step 2: Activating the SmartPlayer Application Using Viplex Express
To activate the SmartPlayer application on the device, the user needs to navigate to the "Terminal Control" section in the application and select the "Playback Management" block.
In the list that appears on the left, the user must select the device and click the "View Screenshot" button.
After clicking the "View Screenshot" button, a window with the device registration code will appear.
Step 3: Configuring Network and Time Settings on the Device Using Viplex Express
Network Configuration
To configure the network, the user must go to the "Terminal Control" section in the application and select the "Network configuration" block. The following types of network configurations are available:
- To configure a wired network, use the "Wired Network" section.
- To configure a wireless network, use the "Wi-Fi Network" section. Select "Wi-Fi STA Mode" to search for a network and enter the connection details for the Wi-Fi network.
- To configure a mobile network, use the "Mobile Network" section.
Time Configuration
The user must navigate to the "Terminal Control" section in the application and select the "Time synchronization management" block. Then, select the required device and set the following parameters correctly:
- Time zone
- Date
- Time
To confirm the changes to the parameters mentioned above, the user needs to click the "Apply" button.
Step 4: Enabling Debug Mode and Connecting via ADB
In the opened Viplex application, type "Novasoft" and "Selftest" (The sections "User Software" and "Debug mode" will appear).
In the application, the user needs to select the "User Software" section and connect to the required device. The next step is to enable the "ADB" setting. This action is performed using the toggle switch. If the "ADB" setting slider is green, it means it is active.
Next, the user must go to the "Terminals" section and right-click on the desired device. In the menu that appears, select the "debug tool" option.
Content Restrictions on Novastar TB 1-4G
The content restrictions for Novastar TB 1-4G devices include:
- Maximum video resolution in pixels: 960 x 750, resulting in an area of approximately 650,000 pixels. This is the device's limit, and at this level, the device may lag due to other processes consuming system resources.
- Maximum internal storage for content: 4 GB, with the rest occupied by the Android OS.
- Video parameters:
- Maximum resolution: 960x750, which totals an area of approximately 650,000 pixels. It is recommended to use lower resolutions to leave resources for the Android OS.
- Recommended resolution: 208 (width) x 312 (height). These resolution parameters were used during testing.
